The prospect of introducing tighter lockdown controls and enforcement in an effort to improve compliance with the current rules is being discussed by senior ministers, according to reports.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock set out the latest on the rapid spread of the coronavirus in the UK and the Government’s vaccines delivery plan, in an update on January 11.

The Health Secretary said the NHS has made “fantastic strides” with the vaccine rollout.

The Prime Minister reportedly spoke with a number of senior ministers on Sunday to evaluate “whether the current lockdown rules were working” in reducing the spike of coronavirus cases, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The paper said the Government was considering scrapping the exemption allowing people to exercise with one other person from outside of their household or support bubble.

Lincolnshire was placed under lockdown along with the rest of England last Monday evening.

Since then vaccination hubs, outside of hospitals, have opened up around the county, with more on the way over the coming weeks.

Hancock set out the latest on the rapid spread of the coronavirus in the UK and the Government’s vaccines delivery plan at a Downing Street press conference.
