A person has been taken to hospital after being found unconscious on Blackpool beach.

At around 4.20pm today, HM Coastguard Lytham was called to reports of person collapsed on the beach.

Emergency services, including Lancashire Constabulary and paramedics, rushed to the scene by the Blackpool Tower.

HM Coastguard Lytham said: “We quickly extricated the casualty from the beach as the tide was rapidly incoming. The casualty was transferred to the ambulance.”

People are urged to call 999 and ask for the coastguard in a coastal emergency.

The coastguard is currently looking for volunteers to join the team. To apply send an email to area15@mcga.gov.uk expressing your interest in joining Lytham Coastguard. The closing date is February 28.
