More than 180 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in Derbyshire, according to the latest figures published by the Government.

Official figures have revealed that 187 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded across the county, with 47 found in Derby and 140 located elsewhere in Derbyshire.

Outside of Derby, the highest number of new cases were found in Amber Valley, were 27 positive tests were returned.

South Derbyshire and High Peak also saw high numbers of new cases, with 25 and 22 respectively.

As usual, Derbyshire Dales reported the lowest number of cases, with just four cases found in the area.

Since the start of the pandemic there has been 64,728 cases of Covid-19 discovered in Derbyshire, meaning the region is expected to hit the 65,000 mark in the coming days. Of these, 18,977 were discovered in Derby, while 45,751 were found across the rest of the county.

A further three people have also died from coronavirus in Derbyshire hospitals, according to statistics published by NHS England. All three deaths were recorded in Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. There has been 1,573 Covid-related deaths at the trust since the start of the pandemic.

It means that 1,991 people have died from Covid-19 in Derbyshire since the start of the pandemic.

Government figures also revealed that 442 more deaths have been recorded that occurred within 28 days of the patient receiving a positive test.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 141,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

On top of this a further 9,938 lab-confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the UK, bringing the total to 4,144,577.

The total number of new cases reported in Derbyshire

  • Amber Valley – 8,190 (27 new cases)
  • Bolsover – 5,585 (16 new cases)
  • Chesterfield – 5,771 (15 new cases)
  • Derby – 18,977 (47 new cases)
  • Derbyshire Dales – 2,656 (4 new cases)
  • Erewash – 6,536 (21 new cases)
  • High Peak – 4,646 (22 new cases)
  • North East Derbyshire – 5,656 (10 new cases)
  • South Derbyshire – 6,711 (25 new cases)

Locally, the number of Covid-related hospital deaths since the start of the pandemic is as follows:

  • Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust – 1,573 (increase of three)
  • Chesterfield Royal Hospital – 381 (no change)
  • Derbyshire Community Health Services – 35 (no change)
  • Derbyshire Healthcare – 2 (no change)

Government data up to February 23 shows that of the 18,911,978 jabs given in the UK so far, 18,242,873 were first doses – a rise of 326,692 on the previous day.

Some 669,105 were second doses, an increase of 26,317 on figures released the previous day.
