A further seven people have died from coronavirus in Derbyshire hospitals, according to statistics published by NHS England today (Thursday).
Three deaths were recorded in Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, with four in Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
It means that 1,998 people have died from Covid-19 in Derbyshire since the start of the pandemic.
Official figures have also revealed that 255 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded across the county – up from 187 yesterday – with 81 in Derby.
Outside of Derby, the highest number of new cases were found in South Derbyshire, where 42 positive tests were returned.
Erewash and Chesterfield also saw high numbers of new cases, with 35 and 24 respectively.
North East Derbyshire reported the lowest number, with just eight new cases reported in the area.
Since the start of the pandemic there have been 64,983 cases of Covid-19 discovered in Derbyshire, meaning the region is expected to hit the 65,000 mark in the coming days.
Of these, 19,058 were discovered in Derby, while 45,925 were found across the rest of the county.
The Government said a further 323 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the UK total to 122,070.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 142,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.
The Government also said that, as of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 9,985 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.
It brings the total to 4,154,562.

- Bolsover – 5,604 (19 new cases)
- Chesterfield – 5,795 (24 new cases)
- Derby – 19,058 (81 new cases)
- Derbyshire Dales – 2,666 (10 new cases)
- Erewash – 6,571 (35 new cases)
- High Peak – 4,659 (13 new cases)
- North East Derbyshire – 5,664 (eight new cases)
- South Derbyshire – 6,753 (42 new cases)

Locally, the number of Covid-related hospital deaths since the start of the pandemic is as follows:
- Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust – 1,576 (increase of three)
- Chesterfield Royal Hospital – 385 (increase of four)
- Derbyshire Community Health Services – 35 (no change)
- Derbyshire Healthcare – 2 (no change)
Government data up to February 24 shows that of the 18,911,978 jabs given in the UK so far, 18,691,835 were first doses – a rise of 448,962 on the previous day.
Some 700,718 were second doses, an increase of 31,613 on figures released the previous day.
