One third of the neighbourhoods in England and Wales that have not recorded a single Covid death since the start of the pandemic are in Devon, latest ONS figures show.

Of more than 7,000 postcode areas in the two countries, only 36 of them have not yet seen any deaths related to coronavirus – with 12 of them in Devon – and a further five in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Three areas of North Devon and Teignbridge, two in the South Hams, and one in Plymouth, East Devon, Torridge and West Devon have so far not seen any of their residents die with Covid-19 on the death certificate up to the end of January 2021.

Data collected by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveals that 36 of 7,209 postcode areas have not suffered a single pandemic since March last year.
