Jammu & Kashmir Administration has directed the Heads of both Government and Private schools to ensure no physical or offline work in the schools that have been designated as examination centres. JKBOSE Jammu Division board examinations are on-going. With the present COVID surge, the administration has asked the schools to ensure no other classes are conducted on exam days.

As for closing the schools for physical classes, the administration has left the decision on District Magistrates. The DMs have been asked to take a call for the schools in their area, considering the safety of the students. The order is for on-going exams and for the upcoming Class 10, 11 and 12 examinations in the UT.

“All District Magistrates / District Disaster Management Authorities’ chairpersons in J&K shall take a call on the continuation of academic activities i.e. physical or online classes in their respective jurisdictions, keeping in view the safety of students and present trend of COVID-19 pandemic in different districts,” says the official order released by the government.

The Union Territory yesterday recorded 517 COVID19 cases and 5 deaths. Of these, 421 were reported in Kashmir and 96 in Jammu region. The order comes as dozens of students and teachers have been found positive for coronavirus. These infections have been mostly recorded in Anantnag, Kulgam, Budgam and Jammu over the past few days.
